Akagera national park is found in eastern Rwanda and comprises mainly 2500 sq. km of savannah land. The park is named after the Kagera River that flows along Rwanda’s eastern boundary with Tanzania. It is popular for being the last remaining refuge for savannah-adapted species in Rwanda making it the ideal destination for safari drives.  It has exceptional levels of biodiversity and houses various species of wildlife including elephants, lions, buffalos, hyenas, zebras, giraffes and several antelopes like the bushbucks, roan antelope, Topis, klipspringer, Oribis, Cape eland, waterbuck, duikers and impalas. There are several primate’s species found within this park such as the olive baboons, Vervet monkeys, and the nocturnal bush babies.
