The park is home to a number of rare and endangered species, including the leatherback and loggerhead turtles, black rhinos, and African wild dogs.

Bwindi is a precious sanctuary of the rare and majestic mountain gorilla, with a population of nearly 500, representing almost half of the world’s total.

Over 95 mammal species and 600 bird species call this park home, with the most highlighted being the big tree-climbing lions and leopards.

The park is famous for its abundance of chimpanzees and over 13 different primate species, the most numerous and diverse of any park in Africa.
