When I came to Kenya on vacation, I was immediately captivated by the stunning natural beauty of the country. The sight of elephants wandering through the savannah, lions lounging in the sun, rhinoceroses majestically approaching the watering hole, and giraffes with their characteristic undulating gait browsing on acacia trees left me awed.

But it wasn’t just the wildlife that won my heart. The warmth and generosity of the Kenyan people, who welcomed me with open arms and their contagious smiles, made me feel like I was part of their family. I knew that I had found a new place that I could call home.

Later on, I partnered with Evergreen Escape, a reputable safari company in Kenya, to share my passion for this beautiful country with others while also contributing to the well-being of the communities we worked with. Our company is dedicated to promoting ethical travel practices, safeguarding Kenya’s natural resources, and showcasing the greatest aspects of the country.

Through our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, we partner with a local NGO called Help Mission Development Services (HMDS), which also partners with a Danish NGO. Together, we work to support the children and community in the best way possible, with a focus on sustainability.

Our contributions include a relief fund that allows schools to purchase new textbooks, desks, and chairs for students, as well as renovate and build additional classrooms. The scholarships enable bright but needy students to attend the schools without any financial burden, and the borehole project ensures the students and the community have access to clean and safe drinking water.

With the help of HMDS, we have also started a community initiative where tourists volunteer their time to teach and mentor the students. This initiative enables the students to interact with people from different cultures and exposes them to a broader world beyond their village.

The relief fund and scholarships have had a tremendous impact on the students’ academic performance, while the borehole project has not only provided clean water but also reduced the time and effort required to collect water, allowing the students to focus more on their studies. The tourists who volunteer their time at the school leave with a sense of purpose and appreciation for the positive difference they could make in the world.

As a result of these CSR efforts, the schools have transformed into vibrant learning institutions, attracting more students who previously had to travel long distances to attend school. The scholarships have enabled more children to access education, and the borehole project has addressed the area’s water scarcity issue. These CSR initiatives have had a significant positive impact on the schools and the community, making a difference that will last for generations.

Today, I take tremendous satisfaction in being part of Evergreen Escape and in leading my team to offer personalized and attentive service to our clients. Sharing the magic of Kenya with others and promoting the welfare of Kenya’s people and wildlife is what drives us.
